More Than a Meal....
Have a compassionate heart and a willingness to listen?
Meals on Wheels Kitsap is seeking Home Delivered Meals Drivers to deliver nutritionally balanced meals to medically homebound seniors. Our volunteers provide critical outreach and safety checks to decrease social isolation, support living well independently, as well as ensuring our community’s seniors do not go without a meal.
We are currently training for regular routes as well as substitute positions to fill-in for illnesses and vacations. Prospective volunteers may download a Volunteer Application under the Support tab.
Routes Available as of August 2023:
- 1 Thursday route
- 1 Wednesday vacation fill in
- 2 on-call subs - Any Route/Day
- 1 Thursday route available
- 2 vacation/sub fill-in
Time Commitment: 10:30AM - 1PM at the latest (may be less depending on the route).
Steps Involved:
- Complete the Application expressing your interest and signing appropriate forms.
- Attend an Orientation (1 hour)
- Receive hands-on training with route drivers

Mission Statement
Meals on Wheels is a private, nonprofit organization providing meals, nutrition, and support services to improve the quality of life for seniors and others with hunger and health needs in Kitsap County. Our vision - with the support of our volunteers, staff, and community - is to create a community of people living well while aging in place with good nutrition, independence, and dignity.
Description
Since 1973, volunteers have been serving and delivering meals to seniors to ensure that no senior in our community goes hungry and much more. In 2021, we provided over 60,000 meals in our community. Be part of the solution by volunteering to serve meals at a Community Dining site, delivering meals to homebound seniors, or calling isolated seniors through our Kitsap Phone Friends Program. We also welcome volunteers and volunteer civic/social groups to support our special events, annual projects, our Birthday Box program, administrative support and more.

- Six-month commitment (allowances for vacations/illness, etc.), one route one day a week except for subbing for others. No more than 2 1/2 hours per route, often less.
- Proof of current auto insurance, proof of COVID-19 Vaccination, current driver's license. Annual training requirement.
