ORGANIZATION: Shoebox Project for Women


YOUR IMPACT: For those wanting to engage their community in a leadership role! You are the lead Coordinator of the organization’s Shoebox gift drive to support women impacted by homelessness. Our Shoebox gifts are delivered to shelters/agencies and is a small, simple gesture of kindness that has an immediate, positive impact on the woman who receives it. A Shoebox gift is a powerful reminder for a woman that she has not been forgotten and that she remains a valued and respected member of her community.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: You are the lead Coordinator of the organization’s activities in your community in efforts to support women impacted by homelessness. For those seeking a rewarding leadership role! The primary role of a Local Chapter Coordinator is to effectively lead the Shoebox Project goals in your community. By creating a fun and supportive environment you will manage and coordinate the efforts of your community volunteers, donors and stakeholders to ensure a successful Shoebox drive season.

*Our major drives throughout the year are: International Women's Day (March), Mother's Day (May), and our major drive during the holiday season (December). Holding one drive/year is the ask but you can do a combination of any of these or include drive ideas of your own!

Position Responsibilities:

● You are an ambassador of The Shoebox Project in your community -Lead the charge and represent with pride!
● Recruit and manage a team of volunteers to assist in various support roles that have been identified
● Identify and develop a network of shelters and resource centres to support
● Gain local Support. Reach out to your local community to introduce, inform & educate on The Shoebox
● Spread the word on social media
● Organize corporate, community and school Shoebox drives - show us your beautiful Shoeboxes!
● Encourage support from local press and community leaders about your chapter and your drive specifics
● Coordinate inspections, storage, transportation and delivery of boxes from drop-off locations to shelters -
deliver your Shoeboxes and watch the smiles!

About Shoebox Project for Women



Mission Statement

The mission of The Shoebox Project for Women is to foster empathy and compassion at the community level, and to reduce the social isolation and exclusion of local women impacted by homelessness.


The Shoebox Project for Shelters is a 501(c)(3) public charity that collects and distributes gift-filled Shoeboxes to women who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness in communities across the US and Canada and the UK. Each thoughtfully created and decorated Shoebox is filled with items that can help enhance self-esteem and reduce feelings of isolation for women in crisis.

  • Time Commitment: Ability to spend 5-10 hours a week during November and December (varies greatly based on size of gift drive, number of volunteers involved, etc.) Duration: The expectation is to lead one drive/year with option for more if you wish.
  • Desire to help women feel seen, supported and cared for, Leadership skills, Communication skills. Note: A reference check is required as per our policy for this leadership role.
