Walk for Literacy Volunteer Opportunities 2022
Traveling Stories is a San Diego-based nonprofit that empowers children to achieve their dreams. Our Virtual StoryTent program matches students in 1st-3rd grade with trained reading mentors for weekly, one-on-one reading sessions via Zoom.
The Walk for Literacy is a family-friendly charity walk happening Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Chollas Lake Park. Proceeds from the event will benefit Traveling Stories’ reading and mentorship programs for local children.
The Vendor Manager recruits vendors for the Walk for Literacy Vendor Village. The Manager collects payment from vendors and ensures that vendors receive all promised supplies. The Vendor Manager collects proof of insurance from vendors as needed and ensures that all vendors comply with the venue rules. The Vendor Manager helps design the Vendor space and communicates with vendors leading up to the event and day-of so they know where to set-up.3 More opportunities with Traveling Stories

Mission Statement
Traveling Stories empowers kids to outsmart poverty by helping them fall in love with reading by the 4th grade.
Description
Traveling Stories is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides free reading support so that low-income families have the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty. We were established in 2010 by Emily Moberly, and exist to transform reluctant readers into confident ones. We specialize in making reading fun and believe that strong literacy skills are the most empowering gift we can give someone. Our StoryTent programs improve reading levels while also teaching families basic financial literacy skills. We inspire a love for reading while also strengthening children’s critical thinking skills and self-confidence.
