Help members of the community achieve their goals!
Basic digital literacy skills are essential to navigating the modern world, but many people are uncomfortable using a computer even at the most basic level. The Arthur F. Turner Community Library is seeking patient, thoughtful volunteers to provide assistance and support to patrons with low digital literacy for tasks like printing and scanning documents, accessing library resources, setting up email accounts, and filling out online forms, as well as troubleshooting more complicated problems and helping people using their personal devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and Kindles.
- Comfortable using a Windows PC including
- Internet browsers
- MS Office applications
- Google Suite applications
- Excellent communication skills, spoken and written
- Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish or Russian is highly desired
- Patience, kindness, and empathy
- Teaching experience is a big plus!
Hours are flexible during library open hours, but you will need to commit to a regular shift. We ask that you commit to at last 2 hours a week for 6 months. Visit yolocountylibrary.org/turner for current library hours.
County policy requires that all applicants 18 and older must pass a background check.
This is a long term assignment and not suitable for youth who are seeking short term assignment to fulfill a high school community service requirement.
