Are you a medical student looking for a great patient experience? This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a doctor or nurse. You will have great exposure to the career you have chosen. Please note that this position doesn't provide hands on experience with patients. It does allow you to learn bedside manner, see the dying process and gives you exposure to the medical field.
To become a hospice volunteer at Hospice of the Valley San Jose the greatest gift one can offer is their time, caring nature and willingness to be present. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.
It's a great opportunity to serve while learning new skills and enhancing existing ones. Volunteers may stay with the patient to give the caregiver some time away or time to rest and they can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families.
For more information on application and upcoming training, please contact:
Teri Brown, Volunteer Program Coordinator @ teri.brown@sutterhealth.org
