Compassionate Heart and Hands

Hospice of the Valley has patients residing in Santa Clara County that would love some company or someone to sit with the patient while the family runs errands. Becoming a hospice volunteer at Hospice of the Valley the greatest gift you can offer is your time, your caring nature, and your willingness to listen.

Volunteering can be as simple as sitting by the bedside, reading a book or running a quick errand for our patients and their family member. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required.

Being a hospice volunteer is a great opportunity to practice compassion and discover your skills and learn new ones during the end-of-life care. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.

While volunteer cannot provide clinical or personal care, s/he can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families.
