Volunteers play an important role in making sure Laramie County Library achieves its mission. The time and service volunteers provide is critical to the library. Volunteers share their talents and provide the labor that ensures the library’s success. Each volunteer is very important to the library, and it is through the help of volunteers that Laramie County Library can provide the best customer service to patrons.

There are a number of volunteer opportunities for all ages at the Laramie County Library System. From teens to seniors and all ages in between, we’ll ensure your position is a good fit for your abilities.

Volunteer Jobs - a few examples
  • assist with Youth, Teen and Adult events
  • sales and customer service in the Book Sale Room
  • assist with genealogical research
  • locate and pull materials for patron holds
  • help keep the Library clean

The Laramie County Library in Cheyenne opened at 2200 Pioneer Avenue on September 8, 2007. Thanks to money approved by voters, the library is a three-story, 100,000+ square foot experience that has become a destination for the community.

Laramie County Library System (LCLS) serves a population of approximately 96,389 people through the library in Cheyenne, rural branches in Pine Bluffs and Burns, and a bookmobile. The library system has a staff of 75+ employees, an annual budget of $5.4 million, circulation in excess of 705,000 annually and a collection of more than 319,000 items.

LCLS is funded through the Laramie County government by a portion of the county’s property tax and 10% of the county’s share of an optional 1% sales tax.

The library continues to grow and serve the people of Laramie County with an ever-increasing collection, new and expanded services, and programs to promote lifelong learning.

  • Must be 12+ to volunteer. Background checks required for any volunteers 18+. A volunteer application must be completed, and then prospective volunteers will be invited to a 1-hour new volunteer orientation.
