The Finger Lakes Toy Library is seeking dedicated volunteers to help run open hours on a regular basis!
FLTL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to improve quality of life by increasing access to toys, supporting play, and encouraging a culture of reuse and sharing. We offer memberships by donation using a pay-what-you-can-honestly-afford system with no minimum costs and no late fees.
We currently have a collection of over 1,300 toys, games, and puzzles and serve nearly 400 members across the Finger Lakes region. Help us continue to make a difference in the lives of children and their families!
Volunteer Title: Open Hours Host
Key Volunteer Responsibilities: Minimum 1 two-hour shift every other week OR 1 hour-long shift per week. Host at toy library for browsing hours to allow members to select toys to borrow, suggest toys for families from our inventory of ~1300 toys, games, and puzzles. Check toys out to members on our point-of-service iPad app. Receive toys that have been returned, and check them in. Clean toys and facilities when not busy with members and families.
Desired skills/qualifications of volunteer: Reliable and able to work independently. Interest in children, play, toys, and early childhood development, and interest in discussing play needs of children with members. Ability to learn iPad software to manage checking in and out of toys.
