ORGANIZATION: Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York

The Covenant House New York (CHNY) is the nation's largest non-profit for adolescents, serving runaway, homeless, trafficked and at-risk youth aged 16 to 24. CHNY provides a continuum of residential care, including immediate shelter, transitional living, and permanent housing programs.

The Stepping Stones Shelter specifically provides housing and wraparound support to young mothers and their infant children. Parenting support, counseling, and educational workshops help new moms learn how to care for themselves and their child.

Are you ready to help our young mothers build a strong future?

What will you do:

  • Assist with daily needs of mother and babies
  • Show moms how to feed babies, assist with baby's baths, and changing pampers
  • Provide short term respite for mom to rest outside of nursery hours
Requirements:
  • Experience with babies and children
  • Empathy and patience
  • Mothers are welcome!
  • Willingness to undergo background check
  • Commitment of 2-3 months with option to continue longer
Location: Stepping Stones Shelter in Manhattan

Schedule: At least one evening a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, OR Thursday evenings) for 3-4 hours

*Open to discussing your schedule - 3 months of commitment is preferred*
