ORGANIZATION: National Eating Disorders Association

National Eating Disorders Association is looking for committee members to assist with the 2022 Denver NEDA Walk! To learn more visit: http://nedawalk.org/denver2022.

The walk is on September 10th, 2022, but committee members must dedicate ample time to preparing beforehand. Open roles include: Sponsorship Committee Member; Logistics and Event Activities Committee Member, Volunteer Recruitment Committee Member; In-Kind Donations Committee Member; Social Media Committee Member.

  • Marketing & Publicity Chair (1, or co-chairs)

Marketing & Publicity Committee Member (1-2)

  • Reaching out to local newspapers, news stations and radio stations to promote the event
  • Helping to create marketing materials for the group to distribute

Time commitment: monthly check-in with Walk Coordinator & committee. Devoting a few hours a week to email and call to ask people to share and promote the event.

  • Logistics & Event Activities Chair (1, or co-chairs)

Logistics & Event Activities (1-2)

  • Meet with venue contact, create site plan, and route map
  • Organize all day of event activities
  • Secure any and all logistical needs including: DJ, Photographer, Tents, Tables, Porta Potties, Stage, etc. (all depending on what the venue provides and what the event goals are)

Time commitment: monthly check-in with Walk Coordinator & committee. Devoting a few hours a week to securing each logistical need, finalizing plans and confirming all reservations.

  • Team/Participant Outreach & Recruitment Chair (1, or co-chairs)

Team/Participant Outreach & Recruitment Committee Member (1-2)

  • Contacting universities (student groups, academic departments, wellness centers, etc.), businesses, organizations, high schools, etc. asks to distribute to their network
  • Encouraging people to form teams and fundraise for the event
  • Distributing flyers around town, on campuses, local businesses, etc.

Time commitment: monthly check-in with Walk Coordinator & committee. Devoting a few hours a week to email and call to ask people to share and promote the event.

  • Sponsorships & In-Kind Donations Chair (1, or co-chairs)

Sponsorship & In-Kind Committee Members (1-2)

  • Soliciting local businesses for financial sponsorships (any connections can help!)
  • Reaching out for in-kind donations, such as raffle items, water, snacks, etc.

Time commitment: monthly check-in with Walk Coordinator & committee. Devoting a few hours a week to email and call to present sponsorship and In-Kind donation opportunities, and following up.

  • Social Media Chair (1)
    • Helping promote the walk via social media, online event listings, community calendars, etc.
    • Being the point person on the committee to help participants with Facebook Fundraising
    • Invite groups in the community via social media to participant & post the event on local groups and pages to invite others from the community

Time commitment: monthly check-in with Walk Coordinator & committee. Devoting a few hours a week to email and call to ask people to share and promote the event.

  • Volunteer Coordinator Chair (1)

Volunteer Committee Members(1-2)

  • Recruiting event volunteers
  • Assign and manage volunteers with clear designation of the necessary roles. Has logistical information and resources for volunteers once they arrive and sign in.
  • Serves directly to the Volunteer Coordinator upon arrival and is given directions and materials for their specific volunteer position.
  • Positions may include/ venue needs, deliveries, signage, parking, exhibit set up, registration, entertainment, rentals, food, guidance to emergency services, first aid, and security.

Time commitment: monthly check-in with Walk Coordinator & committee. Devoting a few hours a week to email and call to secure groups to participants before and during the event.

NEDA supports individuals and families affected by eating disorders, and serves as a catalyst for prevention, cures, and access to quality care.

Description

Quickly growing since 2009, NEDA Walks now bring together over 25,000 people of all ages and backgrounds to fight eating disorders.

NEDA Walks are inspirational, community-building events where passionate walkers raise money to fund eating disorders education, prevention, and support, as well as advocacy and research initiatives. The largest eating disorders awareness events in the nation, NEDA Walks are a celebration of hope and strength, filled with body-positive activities, motivational guest speakers, and a short walk to symbolize unity in the fight against eating disorders.

NEDA Walks create a safe and supportive space where no one will feel alone in their battle. It seems as though everybody knows somebody who’s been affected by an eating disorder - so everybody is invited to walk with us! Together, we’ll stand up to stigma and send the message that recovery is possible.
