Who is Alachua Habitat for Humanity?
We are a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International that serves the cities and rural areas within Alachua County. We believe that every family deserves safe, decent, and affordable shelter. Since our founding in 1986, we have constructed 165 homes in Alachua County with the help of wonderful volunteers like you! By volunteering and donating, you can give someone the opportunity to build their future home.

Why is affordable housing important?
According to data from UF's Shimberg Center for Affordable Housing Studies, when student households are removed from consideration, 1 in 3 Alachua County households are cost-burdened, paying more than 30% of their income on housing. An alarming 1 out of 7 households in our community are severely cost-burdened, paying more than 50% of their income on housing. Lack of affordable housing affects all aspects of an individual's live, including their physical and mental health, their academic opportunities and achievements, etc.
