Program Director

At Creative Emajinations, every youth will have the opportunity to explore their imagination without limitations, which helps enable them to reach their full potential through the art of music and dance.

We exist to provide a welcoming and safe gathering place where youth are free to learn and explore movement and self-expression through the in performing arts. We accomplish this by partnering with skilled performing arts volunteers who commit to sharing their knowledge of dance, vocal instruction, and music recording in both its physical form and its historical context.

About the role

The Program Director (Arts) plays a key role in developing and implementing all Creative Emajinations’ music programs. The primary responsibility of this individual is assessing needs and ensuring that program objectives are met. Plans and maintains the program calendar and oversees all pre-program logistics. Develops program policies and monitors budgetary expenditures. Develops and evaluates program curriculum to ensure that standards and guidelines are adhered to, and performances are of adequate quality. Provides significant contributions to program partnership development, strategic planning and executive level decision making. Position reports directly to the President.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the quality and success of all aspects of our music, arts and dance program operations, management, relationships, curriculum development, staff & volunteer training and supervision
  • Develop strategic long-term arts program expansion goals and budgets with President
  • Manage, train and motivate volunteers. Teaching Artists and designers
  • Create program measurement tools, oversee data collection and evaluate outcomes
  • Monitor program budgets and oversee grant and contract compliances
  • Keep staff accountable to accomplishing quarterly progress toward goal completion as well as to establish goals and plans for the following year
  • Maintain and cultivate funded program partnerships with school sites and other nonprofits; identifying future partners and potential funding opportunities
  • Attend relevant partnership meetings to connect with key stakeholders in the area
  • Visit school sites to observe, support and evaluate teaching artist instruction and implementation
  • Meet with team regularly to ensure smooth running of music programs
  • Work with the leadership team on fundraising strategies/events
  • Hire, train and evaluate program staff and teaching artists
  • Develop and grow an effective volunteer management program
  • Oversee the development of youth alumni relations and alumni reunions
  • Oversee the operations and technical production goals and objectives
  • Take on a staff leadership role in communicating and working with the Board
  • Attend and plan professional development seminars as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Work well with people in communities, institutional and governmental organizations
  • Ability to motivate, develop and lead people as they work, selects the best people for the opportunity
  • Cultural competency to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Working experience in theatre production and arts education program development
  • A past history of developing funded relationships with nonprofits, contractors and schools
  • Work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Experience in meeting facilitation, and/or community relations
  • Ability to work independently, be flexible, and manage multiple priorities
  • Work well in a team-oriented environment and maintain harmonious relationships
  • Proficient computer skills, especially using Microsoft Office and Project Management tools
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal & writing skills
  • Experience leading public presentations, trainings and speaking engagements
