Our Columbia River Gorge Trail Ambassadors are an integral part of TKO's trail advocacy and outreach efforts. These friendly and knowledgable folks head out to some of the most popular trails in the Columbia River Gorge, setting up an information table to answer trail users' questions, offer suggestions, and advocate for safe, respectful, and fun trail use. Find our Gorge opportunities here: https://trailkeepersoforegon.org/events/month/?tribe-bar-search=Trail+Ambassador

Trail Ambassador shifts are available every Saturday and Sunday from April 22nd to September 4th. Running from 9am to 1pm, this the perfect opportunity for someone who wants to give back to Oregon's trails in a relaxed and visitor focused manner. Our currently offered trails are Latourell Falls, Wahclella Falls, Eagle Creek, Starvation Creek, Mosier Plateau, and Rowena Crest/Tom McCall Point. Volunteers who reach fun goals like bringing a friend into the program or volunteering at each Gorge trail will earn awesome prizes! Read our blog post here for more information: https://trailkeepersoforegon.org/trail-ambassadors-2023/

Those who are interested in volunteering may join some of our experienced Trail Ambassadors or TKO staff member on a Trail Ambassador shift prior to completing the online training and background check to learn more about the program. The online training and background check are required for volunteers going to trails solo. Click here to learn more about the program and take the online training: https://trailkeepersoforegon.org/trailambassadors/

Please contact Loren at loren.payne@trailkeepersoforegon.org with questions or to set up a shift!

About Trailkeepers of Oregon

Location:

PO Box 14814, Portland, OR 97293, US

Mission Statement

Inspiring action for the protection and enhancement of the Oregon hiking experience through advocacy, stewardship, education and outreach.

Description

Our organization was born out of the Portland Hikers Forum, a community forum for hiking enthusiasts that was established in 2006, and has now grown to become the Oregon Hikers Forum, TKO’s free, online community for hikers. As the original forum grew, a user-built field guide was created and has now grown to become the Oregon Hikers Field Guide, a free online resource hosted by TKO and maintained by dozens of volunteer authors.

Early on, the many volunteers behind the original hiking forum and field guide saw that many of our trails are at risk and in need of active champions and engaged stewards to advocate for them: TKO was formed by the forum community in the fall of 2007 to address these concerns. The heart of TKO’s mission is our effort to build, restore and maintain hiking trails across the state, promote hikers' interests, and foster ownership and conservation of our public lands.
