Hospice & Community Care provides medical, emotional, and spiritual support for individuals and families who are coping with serious illness, facing end of life, or experiencing the loss of a loved one.
Veteran Volunteers are needed to help support Hospice & Community Care in honoring and supporting veteran patients and their families in York County. Responsibilities include:
- Providing military pinning ceremonies to veteran patients which involves the presentation of service certificates for veteran hospice patients in their homes or senior nursing facilities.
- If requested, continued companionship visits with veteran patients.
- Attend community events such as Veteran Expos, local/regional veteran resource meetings and assist the staff in honoring veteran patients on Veteran's Day and other special community events.
- Helping to record and preserve Veteran patient's stories and memories through programs like Story Corps and the Veteran's History Project.
