The YMCA Adaptive Sports programs include non-competitive recreational sports such as modified basketball,

modified volleyball-themed fun runs, a modified baseball league, and a Swim Buddies program.

We are also overseeing Special Olympics: Basketball, Aquatics, Flag Football, Tennis program Rhymthic Dancing, Kick-ball, and a few more along the way.

These are competitive sports where the team may compete in county games, area games, and

state games. Volunteers can play alongside them as Unified Partners and assist in practices!

Most of our programs run for about 2 hours (except on competition days) and are on different

days throughout the week. Volunteers can engage in participation with the students, become

a volunteer coaches, assist with registrations, or assist in other activities where help may be needed.

About YMCA of South Florida

501 sw 172 ave, Pembroke Pines, FL 33029, US

Mission Statement

The mission of the YMCA of South Florida is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

The YMCA of South Florida is part of the YMCA of the USA, the largest not-for-profit community service organization and second largest charity in America.

Serving the Greater Miami area since 1916, the YMCA has programs for kids, families and the community from the Miami-Dade/Broward County line south to the Upper Keys. Programs are held in schools, parks, recreation centers, and at our 4 YMCA Family Centers and our 3 preschools.

All YMCA programs are designed to build the core character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The YMCA is for people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes. Our goal is to turn no one away. Our strength is in the people we bring together.
The YMCA is volunteer-lead, with an all volunteer Board of Directors. Financial assistance is available, thanks to the support of the community for the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign. Additional support for children and families to participate include grants from community partners, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.
