Summer Camp Volunteers Needed

ORGANIZATION: SPECIAL NEEDS SUPPORT CENTER OF THE UPPER VALLEY

The Special Needs Support Center (SNSC) in White River Junction is excited to host Camp Aspire, a 4-week summer camp for kids with disabilities. This camp serves an urgent need in our community as children with disabilities often cannot attend programming available to other kids when appropriate supports and accommodations are unavailable.

In order to fulfill this important community need we are looking for a few committed volunteers to help with Camp Aspire.

When: Monday-Friday, August 1st-26th

Shift times: Flexible shifts available between 9:30 & 3:30

Where: SNSC and Storr's Pond (Hanover, NH)

Want to volunteer but can only do one day a week? Only one of the four weeks? Only mornings or afternoons? No problem! We are happy to work with your schedule, we just ask for consistency for our kiddos so they know what to expect.

This is a wonderful opportunity for high school kids, teachers, or retirees interested in working with kids with special needs.

Mission Statement

We are a group of individuals and families throughout the Upper Valley and beyond who proudly work together to create a community where people with special needs, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, can live their best lives.

Description

In 1979 the parents of a girl with autism began reaching out to other parents in their community. Their informal parent support network quickly began to get a lot of calls. The new parent network grew tremendously. With boundless enthusiasm and a drive to make a difference, this group of parents started what would become The Special Needs Support Center, a place that helps children and adults with special needs, and their families, meet their unique challenges through advocacy and program support.
