ORGANIZATION: Autism Learners

Autism Learners is seeking qualified tutors to provide in-home and/or virtual tutoring services to students with special needs. We provide resources and the structure that will allow instructors to provide exceptional instruction to each students.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct tutoring or homeschool sessions face-to-face or virtually.
  • Design and implement differentiated learning goals and activities that follow a coherent sequence, are aligned with instructional goals outlined in the learners education plan, and engage students in learning a variety of subject areas (e.g. English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, etc.).
  • Provide a daily summary of session activities to parents following each tutoring or homeschool session
  • Provide a quarterly progress report on the client's education plan to parents of students who are receiving homeschool services.
  • Maintain a mindset focused on academic growth and the increased aptitude of each student.
  • Effectively utilize problem-solving and critical thinking skills to support learners in acquiring knowledge within a variety of subject areas.
  • Collaborate effectively with parents to increase student performance.
  • Recognize the relationship between social-emotional learning and academic performance and show an ability to teach the "whole child.

Tutor Qualifications/Skills:

  • Emotional maturity and stability
  • Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, dependable, and cooperative with a sense of humor
  • Ability to take supervision and correction constructively
  • Ability to positively supervise students

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience providing instruction to individual's with special needs
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Completed or pursuing bachelor's degree in the field of education
  • Masters of Arts in Special Education or a related field of study (preferred)
  • Recent teaching experience and possess a current licensure or certification to teach in your state (preferred)
  • Current CPR certification

Description

Autism Learners was created by a special education teacher to provide educational resources for special learners. Each resource is created with a wide range of skill sets in mind and can be utilized as the learner grows, academically.

Our resources include printable worksheets, flashcards, adaptive functioning-focused books and more.

Our goal is to continue to add valuable resources that parents, students and educators can use to foster the growth of their special learner.
