Mission Statement
The Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue mission is to rescue and save senior or terminally ill German Shepherd Dogs from life-threatening situations and to find homes in which they can live out their natural lives in love and comfort. A medical condition is not a deciding factor, only quality of life remaining. We commit to providing medical coverage for life, even after adoption.
Description
TSGSR is a group of volunteers whose mission is rescuing homeless senior German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs) and finding them new "forever" adoptive homes. We are a California volunteer-based 501c3 non-profit organization. Since the TSGSR organization is 100% staffed by volunteers, we rely on people joining our team and helping us save dogs. This allows over 90% of donations and funding to go completely to the betterment of rescued GSDs.
TSGSR provides temporary 'in-home' fostering and care to help the dog decompress from shelter life in preparation for being adopted and moved to his/her forever home, and if needed, hospice care for Senior German Shepherd Dogs.
TSGSR team members find German Shepherd dogs that are wonderful dogs, and due to senior age and perceived medical conditions are often overlooked for adoption via the local shelter adoption programs.
Yet these wonderful dogs still have a ton of love to give. And they can have a quality life if given a chance. TSGSR is fully aware without targeted and timely intervention these noble dogs would die alone and afraid in the shelter. Feedback from our adopters is these dogs, though they often get overlooked, turn out to be wonderful family pets.
For us, a medical condition is not a deciding factor in accepting a dog into our program. To this end, we commit to providing basic medical coverage for life for every GSD in our program, even after adoption.
