Pleiadian Institute is a school operated by Indigo International to train professionals in the field of holistic health. We are currently recruiting a team of volunteer library directors who can bring a variety of talents, experiences and expertise to help advance our mission of sharing holistic health practices and evidence-based research with the world!

As Library Director, you will work with a team of directors to help to provide organizational support through taking an active role in administrative work and management of a private non-profit holistic health school library collection and for the provision of library services to students, patrons and community organizations.

LIBRARY DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with a team of library directors to manage Rachel K. Cardoza Research Library.
  • Draft and recommend policy to the Board of Directors and plans for the implementation of library goals and objectives.
  • Manage volunteer team that provides student services and public information.
  • Direct the development and maintenance of a library collection of articles, books, periodicals and a variety of other library materials.
  • Plan and run meetings, prepare reports with and for library volunteers.
  • Work with other libraries and organizations in the development of library programs and coordination of interlibrary program.
  • Direct the training of library volunteers in technical and administrative library skills.
  • Represent the library on Board of Directors and serves as the library’s authority on library issues. Attends monthly meetings.
  • Plan and organize the activities, programs, and services of the Library according to perceived needs of the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A passion for and experience in the principles and practices of libraries.
  • Ability to work with others to administer the activities of a library and to supervise the work of others.
  • Committed to excellence.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to organize work for efficient use of time.
  • Commitment to understand, interpret and be a model of library policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Ability to keep records accurately.
  • Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate the work of volunteers in library activities.
  • Ability to initiate, organize, and follow through on programs, services, and projects.
  • Strong & adaptive technology skills, at home navigating between different digital platforms.

*Note: The hours for this position are flexible. You manage teams and work on your projects on your own time. This position includes 1 monthly 120 minute meeting on the first Monday of hte month from 5 pm. - 7 pm. PST. We are very flexible and work with our volunteer's schedules. Volunteers can take up to 8 weeks during a 6 month period off for any reason, with no loss of position or benefits. You can work weekdays or weekends, day or night.

We are currently seeking a Library Director who can serve one year and commit to at least 3 hours a month of service. This is a volunteer position. At the end of the one year term, qualified volunteers can elect to evolve into a part time staff position.
