Special Olympics Orange County is hosting its first annual charity golf fundraiser tournament at the prestigious Chapel Hill County Club on Monday, August 8. We need a variety of volunteers to assist with on-course work, clubhouse opportunities, as well as technology and social media support. The tournament will run 8a-6p although specific volunteer shifts are flexible within that time frame. Please contact us directly and our volunteer coordinator will give you more detailed information. Our goal is to provide a top quality golfing event for our participants, and raise funds to support our local Special Olympics program in our own efforts at hosting year-round regional level sports competitions.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community.

Description

SOOC offers 18 sports year-round to more than 300 athletes of all ages and skill levels with developmental disabilities.
