The Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF) seeks volunteer attorneys for its Eviction Defense Phone Bank to speak with Fulton County tenants who have pending evictions.

Many of these tenants are seeking only simple advice and consultations about eviction cases - how they work, what the steps in the process are, and how best to raise their defenses or counterclaims. This opportunity is a brief advice volunteer bank to assist these tenants.

Before your shift, you will receive a list of tenant names, phone numbers, and case summaries. These tenants have been pre-screened by an AVLF volunteer attorney and identified as needing brief advice.

Questions? Contact AVLF (volunteer@avlf.org).

*Note that this opportunity is available only to GA-barred attorneys. Law students and paralegals looking to volunteer with AVLF can find additional volunteer opportunities at avlf.org/volunteer.

Mission Statement

To create safe and stable homes and families by inspiring the fight for equal justice.

Description

Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF) is a nonprofit that believes no one standing up for their rights should have to do it alone. That’s why we stand with, for, and in support of low-income Atlantans as they demand safe and stable housing, insist on fair pay for an honest day’s work, and break free from intimate partner abuse. Our volunteers are deeply committed to helping low-income Atlantans achieve the safety and stability they deserve. You don’t need to be an expert to provide life-changing support to our clients. Often just a simple demand letter can make a world of distance. For full representation in all our programs, we provide in-depth training, a wealth of legal resources, and access to expert staff attorneys who can help you along the way.
