ORGANIZATION: Who Cares? Scotland

  • 1 person is interested

Who Cares? Scotland is Scotland’s only national independent membership organisation for Care Experienced people. Our mission is to secure a lifetime of equality, respect, and love for Care Experienced people in Scotland and we currently have over 3500 Care Experienced members.

At the heart of Who Cares? Scotland’s work are the rights of Care Experienced people and the power of their voices to bring about positive change.

We provide individual lifelong independent advocacy and a range of connection and participation opportunities for Care Experienced people across Scotland. We work alongside Corporate Parents and others to broaden understanding and challenge the stigma experienced by Care Experienced people. We create opportunities for people with lived experience of care to influence policy makers, leaders, and elected representatives locally and nationally to shape legislation, policy and practice. We do this collaboratively to build on the aspirations of The Promise and secure positive change.

We’re seeking enthusiastic and skilled individuals to join our Board of Trustees to help oversee our work and ensure that the voice of Care Experienced people is central to everything we do. We are particularly seeking individuals with skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Human Resources
  • Fundraising
  • Communications
  • Public/external affairs
  • Member engagement

We welcome and encourage applications from those with experience of care. We want our Board to represent the diversity of our society today, and we’re particularly keen to hear from groups currently underrepresented on our Board, including people from black or ethnic minority backgrounds, people with a disability and people who identify as LGBTQIA+.

We’ll provide full training and support so no previous experience is necessary. All we ask is that you commit to attending at least 4 board meetings per year (virtual or in-person), sub-committee meetings as required, and participate in our events to meet members and hear from them in person.

If you want to be part of delivering change for Care Experienced people across Scotland, we’d love to hear from you. Our current Board Members are happy to have a chat about what the role involves. Email us: jobs@whocaresscotland.org to arrange an informal chat.

Full information on the role and how to apply can be found on our vacancies page on our website here: https://www.whocaresscotland.org/get-involved/charity-and-social-work-jobs/board-members-2/

Closing date for applications is 21 st August 2022.

Interviews will be held during September and will involve our current Board Members and some of our Care Experienced members before a final stage at our AGM in October.
