We need drivers!!!

Volunteer drivers are needed on Saturday mornings and occasional weekdays to deliver meals from Nativity House Shelter to various Catholic Community Services shelter sites in Tacoma (all located close to each other- 10 to 15 min. between stops).

The delivery route takes approximately 1 hour to complete but drive time from your home is counted.

Food is picked up at Nativity House at 10:30 am on Saturdays and at 10:15 am on weekdays. (There is some flexibility to those times.)

Nativity House Kitchen provides approximately 150-200 meals per mealtime for people experiencing homelessness in Tacoma's Hilltop neighborhood but also serves as the primary food hub supporting guests staying at the the Stability Site (emergency shelter site) and families utilizing the Family Housing Network Day Center.

Volunteers will be delivering boxes of sandwiches and prepared meals to each of the sites on their route. Lifting is minimal (20-30 lb. food boxes) and CCS staff generally help load and unload at each stop. Volunteers will need to use their own private vehicles for food transport & provide proof of valid auto insurance. Mileage is reimbursed at $0.51/mile (roundtrip) and additional auto insurance coverage is provided on top of private auto insurance.

Saturday Route: The Stability Site- 1421 Puyallup Ave., Tacoma (near the Emerald Queen Casino)

Weekday Route:

  1. The Stability Site 1421 Puyallup Ave., Tacoma (near the Emerald Queen Casino)
  2. Family Housing Network Day Center- 5050 S. Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA
Please contact meganed@ccsww.org or call 253-365-4111 for more info! Visit https://ccsww.org/nativity-house-meal-transportation-driver-tacoma/ to register as a volunteer online.
