Special Olympics Idaho is recruiting a management team to support a local team of athletes in the Pocatello area. A management team will have multiple coordinators who organize different aspects of the local team. Roles will include a Local Program Coordinator (Filled) who oversees the local management team, a Sports Coordinator who oversees coaches and training seasons, an Events Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, and a Community Outreach Coordinator.

Special Olympics Idaho offers a year round sports and training program. Local teams may recruit different volunteers to lead different seasons throughout the year. Training is offered to onboard new volunteers and all volunteers must complete a background check in order to participate.

If you are interested in volunteering on the Local Program Management Team, or if you are interested in being a coach, please contact Opey Penaloga at Special Olympics Idaho by emailing opey@idso.org.

Volunteers may spend a couple hours a week during the practice seasons training athletes and organizing the local teams. Opportunities available to travel to State Summer Games, USA Games, and World Games as a Coach or Volunteer. Special Olympics Idaho fundraises to provide the costs of travel.

Special Olympics Idaho is recruiting new Winter Sport Coaches for the local teams in the Pocatello area. Winter Season begins in November and ends at the start of March. Athletes will train locally and travel for a Regional Winter Competition. Future opportunities to travel with athletes may include Winter Sports Invitationals with other State Programs and World Winter Games.

Floor Hockey

Downhill Skiing

Cross Country

Snowboarding

Snowshoeing
