We are looking for up to 10 special superheroes to either help volunteer at events for our families on a monthly basis, or help us with the really important week-to-week responsibilities that make these events and our organization happen in the first place.
We work to promote diabetes awareness and physical activity in Central Florida by creating an every-day support system for families impacted by diabetes. Our volunteers are the loved beating hearts that make it all happen. To show you we're serious about needing superheroes, here's brief descriptions of what we are looking for:
S.W.O.R.D Team (Yes, a Marvel ref.): Our S.W.O.R.D Agents look out for our families by creating awareness for diabetes in our community and creating meaningful programs for families. Examples of typical responsibilities our team takes on include: doing welcome sessions with new families, posting on our social media pages, identifying needs in our community, donor/fundraising development, and more. This position makes the most sense for the person who is interested in being in a leadership role and can give up to 3 hours per week of their time.
S.H.I.E.L.D Team (can't have S.W.O.R.D without S.H.I.E.L.D!): Our S.H.I.E.L.D Agents are our protectors during events themselves! Each month, these volunteers can sign up to volunteer for events as it works with their schedules and interests. There's also dance and sport-related events we need active volunteers for. This position makes the most sense for the person who is busy but wants to volunteer 2-5 hours per month of their time at only one required time commitment.
Every team member is a positive light for our community of families. We thank you in advance for applying and can't wait to meet you!

Mission Statement
Our mission is to promote diabetes awareness and physical activity in Central Florida thorough every-day support.
Description
Type Zero Foundation was originally founded as a high school by Christina Martin, when she was a student. A few years later, it became an official non-profit organization to help the whole family system find strength and hope in living with any form of diabetes. We target the areas of our mission through our support program, dance and sports program, and our mentorship program. Most importantly, we like to find positivity and community in everything we do!
Support Program: People join Type Zero by joining our Facebook group, Diabetes Support Orlando. From there, we hold welcome sessions with each new member to best understand how to support them and we put together fun outings to bring our Diatribe together!
Dance & Sports: We perform dance routines that tell stories about diabetes as a way to spread awareness. Our sports program is a way for kids, with or without diabetes, to feel empowered to be their own strongest advocates.
Mentorship: People with any form of diabetes who are newly diagnosed or not confident with their diabetes, get matched with someone who is!
