Volunteering with the Friends of the Foster City Library (FoFCL) provides a unique opportunity to help with fundraising, administration and other activities that support the Foster City Library in its mission: "To ignite growth through transformative experience".
FoFCL activities revolve around:
● Fundraising (development and execution of strategy through memberships, corporate donations, fundraisers, book sales, special events, etc.)
● Membership (developing member engagement and growth strategy; leading membership activities and operations)
● Communications (ensuring information about the Friends and Friends activities are shared to members and the public through newsletters, the FoFCL website and social media)
● Administrative support (financial tracking, FoFCL meeting coordination, digital repository upkeep, taking and management of meeting minutes)
We are seeking volunteers interested in applying their professional skills to these types of activities. Those with a desire for long-term commitment and deeper impact can elect to join the Friends of the Foster City Library Board.
Volunteer duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:
● Direct strategic and tactical support for specific volunteer projects
● Contribution to strategy and execution of general FoFCL tasks
● Attendance at monthly meetings (6pm; currently virtual but typically in person)
● Assistance with events and meeting preparation
We are currently especially seeking board members for Secretary, Marketing and Website support.
This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in libraries and community building. Being a part of the Friends of the Foster City Library can be an excellent experience to build your personal resume. We value all professional skills and are open to your suggestions for ways to assist. Volunteers should be able to write and communicate effectively, be computer literate, and work in a team environment.
For volunteers we ask for:
● Minimum term of one year (we are prioritizing volunteers with long-term commitment)
● Registration as a volunteer with San Mateo County
● Being/becoming a member of the Friends of the Foster City Library
● If a board member, attendance at monthly FoFCL 6pm meetings
Let's connect and see what magic we can make!
