We are a small non-profit based out of Arizona but with volunteers around the globe. We organize/host numerous virtual events throughout the year including Share the Science (webinar series) and World Cord Blood Day (a global awareness day featuring a free virtual conference).

Our team needs additional support in promoting these events. We will provide training as strict marketing guidelines must be followed given the nature of the healthcare industry. The focus will be on increasing attendance to these online programs. No medical training is necessary but could be helpful.

If you are interested, please contact us with your details and provide information about the skills* you have or would like to use in this volunteer opportunity. In particular, if you are fluent in English and another language, please highlight this. We are constantly looking for volunteers who can communicate effectively in Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, etc.

*Volunteer must be able to use the following with ease:
- Canva
- Instagram, FB, Twitter
- Google docs, slides, etc.

Description

Save the Cord Foundation promotes awareness of the life-saving benefits of cord blood based on unbiased and factual information. The Foundation educates parents, health professionals and the general public about the need to preserve this valuable medical resource while providing information on both public cord blood donation programs and family cord blood banks worldwide.

The world’s first cord blood transplant was performed in 1988 by Dr. Eliane Gluckman in France. Since that time there have been over 35,000 cord blood transplants worldwide. Cord blood stem cells are currently used to treat over 80 different life-threatening diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell anemia. Many public registries (such as Be The Match/NMDP) list cord blood donations alongside bone marrow donors so that patients in need can more easily find a match worldwide. Cord blood stem cells are also proving critical to regenerative medicine to potentially treat cerebral palsy, autism, type 1 diabetes, spinal cord injuries and more.
