Recruiting Organization: CoHome, Inc.
Summary
Seeking candidates for our unique Residential Advisor (RA) Program to join our disability-inclusive community in downtown Morristown. Cohome’s Neurodiverse Living Experience is an intentional housing opportunity where individuals with disabilities and their neurotypical peers live, grow, and thrive together. RAs are motivated individuals who embrace inclusion and desire to make an impact in their community.
Location
Cohome is located in the Morristown historic district, steps from the vibrant downtown, and in close proximity to the Morristown Green, Whole Foods, and a 5-minute walk from the Morristown Train Station. It is a beautiful Victorian home with space for up to 9 housemates with private bedrooms, private or shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen and communal space. Cohome offers a beautifully finished basement and media room, living rooms and co-working space. Each bedroom comes partially-furnished with its own bed, dresser and/or closet, desk and nightstand. Adjacent to the Morristown Library, grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops and the Morristown Performing Arts Center, the home provides easy access to many local amenities.
Background
Cohome is America’s first mainstream housing opportunity where individuals with disabilities and their peers share meaningful experiences. We believe everyone deserves the right to live in the least restrictive housing environment that meets their needs.
The Cohome Experience supports inclusion by:
- Welcoming people of all abilities and encouraging housemates to take part in creating a home culture tailored to their own unique wants and needs.
- Providing vibrant and enriching activities that encourage friendships, independence, and self-advocacy.
- Building our communities by facilitating inclusive experiences that foster empathy, shared values, and fun!
Cohome is committed to enhancing the lives of our housemates. Our dedicated staff help all housemates access their community, plan activities, develop roommate skills, and much more!
Intentional Living
As a shared home, housemates share responsibilities to each other and the home. For example, each week a different housemate selects a recipe for the weekly family-style meal and shops for it. Accountability builds ownership and community. Housemates are expected to participate in Cohome activities and attendance at House Meetings, Community Meetings, and certain special events is required.
Program Details
To enhance the living experience and invest in our community, RAs commit to living at Cohome for a minimum of 18 months. Subsidy provided. Inquire to learn more. Scheduled Cohome activities, including our family-style meal, game night, and meetings require an average commitment of 10 hours per week.
