We're looking for individuals interested in helping our staff with routine wildlife care, in an animal hospital setting. Animal Care volunteer duties include: diet preparation, animal handling, cage cleaning, dishes, laundry and general clinic duties. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and able to commit to one 4-5 hour shift per week for a minimum of six months. Volunteers will receive approximately 16 hours of detailed training prior to assuming their scheduled shift. This position is an excellent opportunity for parents with children in school, retirees, teachers, college students and nature lovers.

Wildlife In Need Center is a non-profit that provides free wildlife rehabilitation to over 3,000 native Wisconsin animals each year with the goal of releasing them back to the wild. We also present educational programs about wildlife utilizing non-releasable education animals. Our staff and volunteers answer approximately 10,000 phone calls a year regarding wildlife and wildlife situations. Mission Statement

To provide wildlife rehabilitation to Wisconsin wildlife with the intent to release back to the native habitat, conduct research designed to further the positive impact of rehabilitation, and provide quality community education programs and services.

Description

Wildlife In Need Center provides free medical care to native Wisconsin wildlife that are sick, injured, or orphaned. Our goal is to release these animals back where they came from to be wild again. We also provide wildlife education programs for pre-school through adult ages utilizing live Educational Ambassador animals, wildlife biofacts, Powerpoint, and educational displays. Volunteers as young as 12 can volunteer in our summer-only baby bird feeding program to help us raise and release hundreds of infant songbirds. Adult volunteers can help in Animal Care, Phones and Admissions in the office, education, gardening and grounds, maintenance.
