Mission Statement

The California North Odyssey of the Mind promotes creativity, develops team problem solving skills and promotes divergent thinking for participants of all ages throughout northern California. California North Odyssey of the Mind fosters personal integrity, self-respect, cooperation and acceptance of diversity in people, thoughts and beliefs. Participants will be encouraged to use their skills, knowledge and ideas to travel uncharted paths to help make the world a better place in which to live.

The International mission of Odyssey of the Mind is to provide creative problem-solving opportunities for everyone and to foster original and divergent thinking. Through the Odyssey of the Mind program, coaches, parents, judges, and volunteers promote creativity by challenging teams to solve divergent problems, that is, those with more than one solution.
While the ultimate goal for most teams is to present their problem solutions in official competitions, this is not a requirement of participation. The purpose of the program is to provide students with an exciting learning experience that promises to be challenging and fun.

The primary objectives and purposes :

  1. Implement, sponsor, and regulate the Odyssey of the Mind Program tournaments within northern California in accordance with the guidelines of Odyssey of the Mind
  2. Promote creativity and creative problem-solving skills to the youth of northern California
