Oceana, the world's largest non-governmental organization focused solely on ocean conservation, seeks volunteers in its effort to protect Maine's ocean health from the emergence of industrial fish farms along the coast. Maine has the United States' only ocean-pen salmon farms yet has no limits on how much salmon can be produced at these farms, nor any limits on pen density, nor any places that are strictly off limits due to ecological and/or economic significance. Every other Western democracy that practices ocean-pen salmon farms has these restrictions, due to the inherent pollution and risky nature of the practice, and Maine should too. Join our campaign to stop Monster Fish Farms from arriving in Maine (before it's too late).

Mission Statement

OCEANA CAMPAIGNS TO PROTECT AND RESTORE THE WORLD'S OCEANS.

Description

Oceana is the largest international advocacy organization dedicated solely to ocean conservation. Oceana is rebuilding abundant and biodiverse oceans by winning science-based policies in countries that control one third of the world’s wild fish catch. With nearly 200 victories that stop overfishing, habitat destruction, pollution and killing of threatened species like turtles and sharks, Oceana’s campaigns are delivering results. A restored ocean means that one billion people can enjoy a healthy seafood meal, every day, forever. Together, we can save the oceans and help feed the world.
