Position Description:

  • Create engaging posts on our social media accounts to build an active follower base
  • Lead efforts to share Junior Wildlife Ranger’s work through a quarterly newsletter, social media, and other sources.
  • Interview volunteers, partners, and families and takes the initiative to find important and inspiring stories to share with the community.

Overview

Gain experience at a dynamic environmental nonprofit connecting the next generation to public lands through hands-on learning. Our programs teach youth the importance of wildlife and habitat conservation, the vital role public lands play a role in sustainability, and give them the tools to become environmental stewards. Volunteering at Junior Wildlife Ranger, a project of the Earth Island Institute is a great way to give back to the community, to develop your resume, and get involved with environmental education for youth at the national level on your own schedule. Our mission is to provide free educational programming for youth that makes everyone feel welcome in the outdoors.

Volunteer Information

  • Time commitment is 3-5 hours a week, including Zoom meetings set for 10-11:30am PT Sundays. Availability for these meeting is required.
  • Start August 2022; End August 31, 2023.
  • Position is work-from-home on your own schedule. All volunteers should expect to meet with their team once a week on Zoom.
  • Earning academic credit for volunteering is possible, if applicable.
  • Application Deadline: July 15 2022.

Description

Earth Island Institute (EII), founded in 1982 by veteran environmentalist David Brower, fosters the efforts of creative individuals by providing organizational support in developing projects for the conservation, preservation, and restoration of the global environment. EII provides activists the freedom to develop program ideas, supported by services to help them pursue those ideas, with a minimum of bureaucracy.
