Community Volunteer Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Volunteer Program Manager is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive recruitment program to attract, engage, and retain volunteers to support SBMom's mission and programs. They will manage all aspects of the volunteer program, developing and managing systems for volunteer program oversight, tracking, growth, and evaluation.

This position will have flexible, variable hours depending on events and community engagement needs. Candidates must be available to flex a typical work schedule to include weeknights and Saturdays.

This is an unpaid position that may become grant funded.


REPORTS TO : President


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish, promote, and communicate the volunteer program's vision and goals in alignment with SBMom's mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess organizational needs that can be achieved with volunteer efforts.
  • Develop and maintain volunteer opportunity descriptions for specific assignments and activities to meet the needs of SBMom.
  • Design, implement, and manage a multi-year schedule of volunteer needs and activities, job descriptions, volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service program goals.
  • Develop a system for managing volunteer hours, activities, milestones, and outcomes.
  • Develop, promote, and maintain a steady volunteer base.
  • Input and maintain accurate records to provide timely volunteer participation and appreciation reports.
  • Provide routine updates and a calendar of events to key staff on upcoming volunteer groups and activities.
  • Assist in the vetting and selection of a volunteer management system.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities to advance SBMom's mission.
  • Recruit and supervise volunteers in coordination with other staff.
  • Provide a robust and meaningful training program, including orientation, tours, program materials, and instructions.
  • Ensure that volunteer-led activities and materials provided to volunteers are aligned with SBMom's branding, messaging, mission, standards, and policies as established by SBMom.
  • Manage incoming communications promptly.
  • Promote SBMom and SBMom volunteers on social media.
  • Other mission-aligned duties as assigned.

QUALIFIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or three years equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of prior volunteer management experience.
  • Clean criminal background check.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to recruit, engage, and retain volunteers.
  • Previous experience in online scheduling management programs such as VolunteerHub and Salesforce, preferred.
  • Strong communication skills using email and phone.
  • Must have reliable transportation to attend special events.
  • Available to flex a typical volunteer schedule to include weeknights and Saturdays.
  • Must be Covid-19 vaccinated and able to provide proof unless the candidate can provide evidence of one of the following: (1) medical reasons; (2) religious reasons; or (3) immunity from COVID-19 based on a prior infection with COVID-19.

Our active presence in the local community and partnerships with medical professionals helps to reduce Black maternal mortality. SBMOM acknowledges and affirms all women who have experienced the loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, sudden unexpected infant death, or infancy.

Description

Shades of Becoming a Mom (SBMOM) is a Christian, non-profit organization that provides resources, guidance, and support primarily to Black women grieving the loss of a baby in pregnancy or infancy.

Our vision is that every woman receives culturally competent and equitable maternal health care. Families who experience infant loss or maternal loss have access to timely and affordable support.
