  • 3 people are interested

We are looking for those interested in environmental education, specifically marine life education. We have a Discovery Center located on our property where guests from around the country join us to learn about our marine animal rehabilitation program. The volunteer would be a docent helping to answer questions and guide activities. They would also be helping check guests in and out, as well as selling items from our gift shop. The volunteer may work with other volunteers or interns here at the National Marine Life Center.

Although this are set up as shifts, we would love to attract a candidate that would like to commit to volunteering year round. We are hoping to grow our education program and would love for you to be part of it.

There would be an at home orientation for you to complete and a $35 training fee before joining us here.

If you have any questions, please email education@nmlc.org.

Mission Statement

The National Marine Life Center rehabilitates and releases stranded marine mammals and sea turtles in order to advance science and education in marine wildlife health and conservation. The vision of the National Marine Life Center is to be a world leader in marine wildlife rehabilitation, conservation science, and STEM education.

Description

Founded in 1995, the National Marine Life Center is an independent, non-profit organization. We rehabilitate and release stranded marine mammals and sea turtles in order to advance science and education in marine wildlife health and conservation.

Marine animals make ideal teaching tools. Dolphins, whales, seals, and sea turtles are charismatic and interesting. The ocean depths in which they live are mysterious and exciting. By using marine animals as subject material, National Marine Life Center instructors address topics from biology to physics, writing composition to art, math to technology.
