CASA Volunteers are highly trained advocates appointed by a Judge to represent the best interests of children who are involved in the child welfare system and courts as a result of abuse or neglect. A CASA Volunteer has an official role in the judicial proceedings and assists the court by independently investigating a case and submitting recommendations to the court. A CASA Volunteer will work collaboratively alongside others involved in the case including parents, placement, therapists, Children's Division workers, Juvenile Officers, GAL, school staff and any others involved with the child. Our best interest advocacy is driven by the guiding principle that children grow and develop best with their family of origin, if that can be safely achieved. Most children working with a CASA Volunteer are in foster care and most children who leave foster care do so to return to their family.
