Download our app on the Apple App Store or get in on Google Play and become a food rescue hero! As surplus food becomes available at stores, restaurants and farms, we need volunteers who are willing to transport the food directly to our nonprofits serving people in need. The Northern Virginia Food Rescue app will notify you whenever there's a food rescue available and take you step by step through the process of picking up and dropping off the food. A short trip for you could make all the difference for a family in need! You can choose to do a one-time rescue around your schedule OR to start doing weekly rescues for a set day and time now and into the future. (Background checks may be required for home deliveries).

Mission Statement
Fauquier Food Rescue is a program of Northern Virginia Food Rescue. We aim to address the disconnect between food insecurity and food waste by rescuing food before it is wasted and redistributing it to it to organizations that serve communities in need. Our goal is to use our app-based technology to keep food out of the trash and get it into the hands of those who need it. Our initial emphasis is on building relationships with non-profit organizations and food donation partners in the county. We have already established strong partnerships with food banks through our Prince William and Fairfax food rescue programs and look forward to working closely with nonprofit partners in Fauquier.
Description
After successfully launching Prince William Food Rescue as a new program under Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) in August 2019, ACTS has created Northern Virginia Food Rescue (NOVA-FR) as a subsidiary company to start duplicate programs in each county in Northern Virginia. NOVA-FR is leveraging our experience partnering with 412 Food Rescue in Pittsburgh, PA, and successfully implementing the Prince William Food Rescue program to establish individual county Food Rescue Programs (FRPs) and redistribution operations to improve food resiliency and accessibility for the entire region.
