ORGANIZATION: HOOVED ANIMAL HUMANE SOCIETY

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 8 people are interested

Are you looking to get involved and help our horses and animals but enjoy being inside away from the heat and cold. We can always use help with tasks around our office and in our education center. This volunteer opportunity doesn't require any prior experience and we can train you on all tasks. Opportunities would include writing thank you notes, organizing, helping send out newsletters and items for special events. We also host education events and seminars as well as our once a month tack sale and it's great to have organizing and assistance around these events.

About HOOVED ANIMAL HUMANE SOCIETY

Mission Statement

The Hooved Animal Humane Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1971 by concerned and committed citizens. It is HAHS’ mission to promote the humane treatment of hooved animals through education, legislation, investigation, and if necessary, legal intervention (impoundment). In addition, we provide physical rehabilitation to animals that have endured severe neglect and abuse and adopt them out to loving forever homes.

Description

HAHS was the first humane society established in the United States to focus on large animals, primarily horses. In 1973, HAHS was the driving force behind the passage of "The Humane Care for Animals Act".

Since the organization was founded over 50 years ago, it has responded to thousands of calls requesting investigations of facilities housing horses in dire need of help. With the assistance and expertise of state-licensed investigators, we are able to respond to calls within a short period of time. HAHS provides hundreds of referrals throughout the United States each month.

In addition another key objective is a focus on education in order to prevent abuse and neglect of hooved animals. Each year we host seminars with equine professionals such as veterinarians, farriers, attorneys, and resistance-free trainers.
