Hospice Volunteers Needed

This opportunity is mostly for day time hours during the week days. 1-3 hours per week.

Hospice Volunteers bring a special gift of comfort and friendship to patients and families during their end-of-life care. They are also an important part of the Hospice team overall, raising the quality of life for each patient. Home volunteers supplement the full-time staff’s attention to the family providing services that are essential to Home Hospice service.

Each family need is different, so not every assignment is the same. Volunteers share what they are comfortable doing and are matched with family needs accordingly.

Volunteers perform their hours in the patients' homes, nursing home facilities, and occasionally may be asked to help in the office.

Activities that may be performed:

• Short Respite periods for caregiver
• Socialization for patient and caregiver (Companionship)
• Support for patient and caregiver (Listening and emotional support)
• Errands for patient and caregiver
• Reading to patient
• Praying with patient
• Wheeling patient outside
• Arts
• Music Therapy - providing music off your phone or in-home equipment
• Light Housekeeping
• Meal preparation
• Legacy Letter creation
• Well Check calls

Veteran-to-Veteran care is especially needed.
