Are you a Pre-med or med school student looking for volunteer hours in the healthcare field? Please consider joining us at HarmonyCares Hospice where you can visit directly with patients and/or work in the office behind the scenes to help our program run smoothly. Direct volunteers are assigned to a patient, typically living at home or in a nursing home/facility, and they visit an hour or so weekly to provide support and companionship. They can also be a source of respite for caregivers, and run errands, do yard work, etc. We will tailor your volunteer time to meet your needs and interests. We ask that volunteers make a 6 month commitment or longer, and that they dedicate 4-6hrs per month to volunteering.
Office volunteers assist with special projects, organization, helping with volunteer recruiting tasks and other fun projects for patients. Our patients are all within a 60 mile radius of Oakbrook Terrace, where our office is located. Hours/days are flexible. Please give me a call today (773-771-0309) to discuss volunteering!

*All volunteers must be vaccinated for Covid-19, and will be required to have a physical, drug test, TB testing (Blood Test), and background check, all arranged and paid for by HarmonyCares Hospice. These are Illinois state requirements.

Mission Statement

For each employee to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs quantity of day, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing

Hospice care is not just for the patient. It also provides emotional support for the entire family. Hospice is a philosophy of caring for patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek agressive medical care at the end stage of life. Our program is for patients who are considered terminal and are expected to live six months or less if the disease follows its natural course, although many patients outlive this time frame. Our philosophy focuses on comfort care not currative care. Our goal is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own home or the home of a loved one through the end of life. We also serve patients who are living in long-term and assisted living facilities.
