Volunteers Needed for Vacation Bible School

St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in San Luis Obispo is looking for 5 volunteers to help deliver a children’s Christian Education program August 1-5, 2022. Duties would include:

• Taking an active role in delivering a short, daily Christian Education curriculum to children in a group setting in the mornings.
• Actively supporting the delivery of the theatre education "Encanto SLO" program in the afternoon.
• Leading or supporting free-time activities.
• Being part of a the larger team of Vacation Bible School volunteers.

Briefing/Training on the programs to be delivered will be offered the week prior. Volunteers will not be asked to take the lead in delivery, but will have some role in the delivery. Prior experience with working with children would be preferred, as would some experience with Christian education and formation (even if your own). But neither are required if an enthusiasm and willingness to be a part of this program are offered. A brief interview will be required. Background checks are not required, and volunteers will be supervised at all times by a trained Team Member from St Stephen’s. No previous experience required nor commitment to attend worship. However, this is a Christian education program of which volunteers must be supportive. An informal interview, photo ID, 2 references and proof of vaccination required. We are looking for friendly, committed people who are wanting to serve the SLO community.

Volunteers seeking a more active role in developing and delivering this program may do so. This will require meetings throughout July, safeguarding training and a background check. Age range of children is 5 to 13yo.

Lunch and snacks will be provided. This opportunity can be signed off as Volunteer Service Hours. Morning / Afternoon shifts can be accommodated.
