NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION!
Connection Peer Support Group is a free, peer-led support group for any adult (18+) who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. It is a safe space for support, community, and discussing personal struggles living with mental illness.
We are an affiliate of NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) which is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nation's leading voice on mental health. Today, NAMI is an alliance of more than 600 local Affiliates (Tallahassee included!) and 49 State Organizations that raises awareness and provides support and education not previously available to those in need.
In this position, expect to direct conversation with your co-facilitators to keep on track with the group's schedule, guidelines, and Principles of Support. You will be required to go to at least three (3) Connection meetings before qualifying for the weekend training session.*Facilitators will receive a $25 stipend for each group they facilitate and an additional $25 each group they act as "Lead Facilitator" for.

Mission Statement
NAMI Tallahassee is a nonprofit organization that provides support, education, and advocacy throughout the Leon County area on behalf of individuals and families affected by mental illness.
Description
NAMI Tallahassee is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization. Our programs are facilitated by nationally trained volunteers with lived experience as both individuals living with mental illnesses and their family members and friends. Our programs are offered at no charge to the public. NAMI's flagship education offering, Family to Family, is listed with the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration as an evidence-based best practice, and all other signature programs are based on the Family to Family format. We are volunteer-run, with no paid staff. We have been named Florida Volunteer Affiliate of the Year by NAMI Florida in 2018 and 2020, and 1st runner-up for the same honor in 2019.
