Mission Statement
Our Mission: To serve nutritious, freshly prepared meals to people in need, in a safe, welcoming environment. Our Vision: To be a center of hope and compassion ensuring that no one in our community Suffers the fear and distress of food insecurity.
Description
Community Garden Kitchen was the vision of a group bible study in 2014. Food insecurity was thought to be nonexistent in Collin County until their research showed otherwise. We now have a 4600sf debt free building with a commercial kitchen and seating capacity of 131 in our dining room. We are the only facility serving hot meals in a "no questions asked, no paperwork required" in the county. Our target groups are the working poor, families, seniors, veterans and the homeless. We have the Globe Life teaching garden and, with the exception of our chef and director of operations, are an all volunteer service. Our president, Angela Poen, has garnered numerous awards and been recognized by the community to be a tireless leader and passionate advocate for the hungry.
