ABOUT THE TRANS ADVOCACY & CARE TEAM (TACT):

TACT (Trans Advocacy & Care Team) is a growing non-profit initiative based in Oakland that champions the wellbeing of trans and nonbinary individuals. We are trans people helping other trans people to thrive. TACT is working to build a network of community support for trans and nonbinary individuals. TACT provides 1-on-1 peer support, facilitates restorative conversations, hosts community events and support groups, and promotes gender inclusivity through education and advocacy.

TACT centers the lived experience of trans and nonbinary people and is a trans-led organization. We are currently seeking volunteers who want to be part of this new and growing nonprofit as we work together to create a world where trans folks can thrive and be deeply understood.

TACT is committed to the inclusion of all members of our community. We welcome and strongly encourage people from historically marginalized and economically disadvantaged groups, including BIPOC, trans-feminine folks, folks with disabilities, and folks from working class backgrounds to apply.


We are actively seeking volunteers for the following positions:

Outreach Volunteer:

  • Attend events (in-person and virtual) as representatives of the Trans Advocacy & Care Team to provide information and resources to the community
  • Participate in tabling and events staffing
  • Support with outreach to various organizations and nonprofits to get the word out about our services and volunteer opportunities
  • Ideal candidate identifies at trans/ nonbinary/ two spirit and is based in the Bay Area, CA

Events and Fundraising Volunteer:

  • Provide support with organizing and staffing events (both fundraising events and community events)
  • Assist with logistical event planning, coordination, and outreach leading up to the event
  • Ideal candidate is based in Bay Area, CA

Fundraising and Grant Writing Volunteer (REMOTE):

  • Brainstorm and execute fundraising ideas, events, and campaigns
  • Support and communicate with our Champions (crowdfunding supporters)
  • Support with drafting grant proposals and identifying grant opportunities

Website Development and Design Volunteer (REMOTE):

  • Manage changes and updates to our website
  • Ideal candidate has knowledge of / experience with web design and analytics

Resource Specialist Volunteer (REMOTE):

  • Help build our national resource database by compiling resources
  • Support client care by conducting follow up resources to help answer client's questions and find appropriate resources for clients

Storytelling & Journalism Volunteer (REMOTE):

  • Researches and writes stories, articles, and social media content based on the lived experiences and stories of trans and nonbinary individuals
  • Reaches out to and conducts interviews with trans and nonbinary individuals who are willing to share their story as part of our storytelling project

Education & Training Volunteer (REMOTE):

  • Support our Education & Awareness department in the creation and facilitation of presentations and workshops that teach participants to create supportive environments for trans and nonbinary individuals
  • Conduct research, create infographics, and create presentation slide decks
  • Engage audiences through public speaking and outreach events

Research Assistant Volunteer (REMOTE):

  • Assist with a variety of research efforts
  • Conduct research on trans and nonbinary topics, resources, and organizations to support the creation of resource databases and social media content
  • Conduct online research as well as research via telephone and social media
  • Compile data into spreadsheets and complete written report summaries

General Volunteer (REMOTE):

  • Flexible position that helps support TACT in a variety of areas, including administrative tasks and events staffing
  • Open to exploring new roles and providing support where needed
