Recruiting Organization: Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly (LBFE), Chicago
Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly's philosophy, programs, and activities are focused on alleviating loneliness and isolation among elders in DuPage and Kane Counties. The need for social interaction is critical to the human spirit - we believe that nurturing the soul is as important as feeding the body. The elders we work with have no or little contact with family and/or friends and are essentially alone. Volunteers support elders in friendship through various activities and programs.
After 63 years in Chicago, Little Brothers is building an expansion site in Batavia to serve DuPage and Kane Counties. We are seeking volunteers who can participate weekdays in the planning and facilitation of various programs, including recruiting volunteers, seeking out isolated elders, and hosting lunches or parties.
Volunteers need to be fully vaccinated to participate with fully vaccinated elders. The commitment would be roughly 4 hours per week for a minimum of six months.
To start, please join us at an upcoming Zoom orientation. Please register through the link below. Attendance at a one-hour orientation session is required to volunteer, as well as a successful completion of a background screen.
