Volunteer with the Stewardship Team to protect the forested areas in Cunningham Park! Volunteers will learn how to identify and safely remove invasive plants in order to help restore the forest and create a healthier ecosystem. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants, and clothing that can get dirty. Space is limited and registration is required. Masks may be worn at your discretion. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone. This event has been funded in part by NYC Service.

The Stewardship Program is a service program that recruits, trains, and supports volunteers for ecological projects across the city. You can help keep New York City’s forests, wetlands, and coastlines thriving. Join us to plant trees, shrubs, and grasses; remove harmful invasive exotic vegetation; care for street tree beds; and remove debris from our wetlands.

Our volunteer program is for anyone who loves nature. We can accommodate local organizations, individuals, corporations, "voluntourists," schools, universities and visiting service organizations. We welcome a wide range of experience levels, abilities, and group sizes.
