Development Assistant
Overview:
Agate Housing and Services engages with a wide variety of donors and partners. These groups help fund our programs by offering private donations, grants, and physical donations. The Donor Services and Database Administrator is a valuable member of the Development Department, keeping track of our donations, relationships, gift acknowledgements and more. The main goal of the Development Assistant is to support the Donor Services and Database Administrator with data entries, gift entries, and database maintenance. The latter tasks are all electronic and done by computer. Over time, the Development Assistant may learn new skills and be trained to help the Administrator with different tasks and responsibilities as needed. The Development Assistant will have the opportunity to take Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge training courses.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Record gift entries for monetary donations on a weekly basis
- Assist with acknowledgements
- Enter A Day in the Life registrants, monthly
- Update The Raiser’s Edge with Mailchimp information, monthly
- Database clean-ups as needed
Secondary Responsibilities:
When the Donor Services and Database Administrator is caught up, the Development Assistant may be asked to help other staff members of the department, like the volunteer coordinators, the Communications Manager, the Grants Manager, the Resource Advocate, or the Director of Advancement and Community Engagement. The work will depend on staff needs and the volunteer’s level of comfortability.
Training and Confidentiality:
This individual will receive full training and orientation in their specific role, as well as a tour of the facility in which they will be working. They will be informed about our organization, services, and how their commitment impacts our work in the community. The Development Assistant can expect to be trained how to navigate, maintain, and enter data into Raiser’s Edge databases, as well as how to create gift acknowledgements. They can also expect to be trained for any new skills or secondary responsibilities as needed.
Support and Supervision:
The Development Assistant’s on-site supervisor will be Amber Becker, the Donor Services and Database Administrator. The volunteer should direct their questions, comments, and concerns directly to Amber Becker. If at some point their on-site supervisor is unavailable, the volunteer can also reach out to the volunteer coordinators (Noah Chan and Abby Abele) or anyone else in the Development Department for support.
