Gainesville Community Ministry's GED program is in need of tutors who will address the many prospective students who have poor reading development that hinders their ability to pass the GED test. Our GED Reading Program will target students who have reading levels in the range of a 5th - 8th grade reading level equivalency. These students are primarily deficient in vocabulary, background knowledge and the understanding of expository text structure.
All tutors will receive training in how to address these areas and will receive coaching as needed to address students' individual needs. Tutors will meet with students 1 - 2 hours per week on a schedule determined in cooperation with their assigned students.
