Missing Pieces Support Group Texas is a new not-for-profit organization in the Houston area, and recently acquired 501(c)(3) status by the IRS.


Our goal is to raise awareness about pregnancy loss and provide support resources to those who have recently experienced baby loss Please visit our website at https://www.missingpiecessupportgroup.org for a full description.

We are seeking an community events coordinator that will work with our Executive Director in creating awareness and support for our nonprofit. While this is a volunteer position at the outset, we expect this to grow into a salaried position once we find a grant opportunity to fund it.


PRIMARY PURPOSE

  • Generate community support and funding for the for the non profit’s mission to through creating meaningful community events to increase awareness

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience/knowledge in managing non-profit or 501(c)(3) organizations
  • Experience working collaboratively/effectively with governing boards and business/community partners
  • Demonstrated success with hosting successful events that generate funds for the organization

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS NEEDED

  • Communications and Interpersonal Skills-Networking with vendors and venues and has knowledge of what guests to expect
  • Team Management-Is a team player that knows how when to delegate to keep projects on time
  • Budgeting-stays within or under budget for events. Creates reporting from expenditures
  • Logistics- Properly plan the details for each event and anticipate potential problems that may arise.



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Coordinate events for Missing Pieces Support Group Texas
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and venues
  • Planning event details and aspects, including seating, dining and guests (where applicable)
  • Creating reliable financial reports and collecting payments on time
  • Remaining under budget with all costs
  • Managing events and addressing potential problems that may arise
  • Planning for potential scenarios that could impact the integrity of the event
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the complex needs of a wide variety of events
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop, implement and oversee Missing Pieces Support Group Texas development activities to ensure stable organizational revenue and program levels
  • Serve as primary contact on all development-related activities for donors and prospects, including prospect management, personal visits, development proposals, campaign committees, correspondence and events

Description

I'm Jamilah Robinson. My fellow board members, Emily Gamboa, Jescikia Sam, Crystal Boykin and I are seeking your support in a venture we hold near and dear to our hearts.

We are a group of women who have experienced pregnancy losses ranging from first term miscarriages to stillborns. We know the emotional and physical toll that this type of loss carries and have committed to helping others in this situation by founding a non-profit organization: Missing Pieces Support Group.

Our mission is to bring awareness to pregnancy loss by providing informational resources; to form a mindful community that bridges the gap for similar support services, and to provide a platform that gives families the opportunity to share their stories online.
