Teens, we need your help! Can you volunteer over the summer to help us out with library events and the Summer Reading Program or Teen Programming?

Ages 14-18 can help us out with the Summer Reading Program. We have a schedule ready, and you can claim your preferred timeslot for a 2 hour shift every week. We do need more help during our anticipated busy times, such as during Storytimes (Tuesdays at 11:00am), Young Builders (Wednesdays at 3:30pm), our special Summer Reading Events (Thursdays at 11:00am), Play & Learn (Saturdays at 11:00am), and at our film showings alternate Sundays at 2:00pm. If you are unable to do these times, no problem! We’ll be happy to have your help any time you can.

There is also an opportunity for teens ages 12-18 in helping plan and prepare teen-focused programming. Currently, there is a Teen Makerspace every Thursday from 4-5pm (so you can volunteer from 3:30-5:30 for 2 hours of volunteering a week), a sewing workshop, and a Teen Writers' Group! The sewing workshop will be alternate Saturdays from 2:00-4:00pm starting June 25 th. The Teen Writers’ Group is on alternate Fridays at 4:00pm starting June 17 th. I am also open to any ideas you might have for teen programming (Book Clubs? Boardgames? Manga/Anime Chat? Dungeons and Dragons? Teen Gardening? Whatever you want!), just let me know and I can try to make it happen!

Come to the Laguna Niguel Library to fill out an application! Parent/Guardian signature is required for those under 18.

We will be adhering to CDC guidelines in regard to COVID-19.

Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.

OC Public Libraries is a network of community libraries in your neighborhood or as near as your computer. We have 33 branches as well as an outlet in the Orangewood Children’s Home which provide a variety of services to residents throughout the County. Some of the branches are operated within the jurisdiction of the County’s 33 cities and within the County’s unincorporated area.

Once you have an OC Public Libraries card, you are entitled to check out materials from any of our 33 branches as well as from other libraries with reciprocal lending privileges. OC Public Libraries welcomes your visits and hopes you take time to get acquainted with our staff, services, materials, and programs.
