Disability Moving Assistance focuses on moving assistance and all that is associated with that. We are disability-led. Housing in general is tough for but the pandemic has really created extra barriers! As a result, we've found that more people have ended up homeless in motels or on the streets. It's our goal to get people into safer situations and OUT of institutions.

We are looking for motivated people to volunteer some time (about 12 hours a week) to help us with Social Media, Fundraising, Grant research, and possibly more!

If you have a passion for housing, disability or just helping others in general please reach out. We can offer college credit!

We are very conscious of social distancing guidelines and so most of this work will be done virtually for now.

About Disability moving assistance Inc.

Location:

Mission Statement

Our mission is to ensure that Disabled/Senior residents of Rutland County have the resources they need to safely move into their new home.

Description

The pandemic has put a lot of people in situations where they have to choose to pay bills or hold down their housing. This is particularly scary when you have a disability where your housing options may be limited.

Disability Moving Assistance aims to assist our fellow disabled people through mutual aid and funding. We offer assistance through coordinating volunteers for physical help moving in/out or if you just have to get to a plug behind a couch. We also work to raise money to assist people who need monetary help with security deposits, truck rentals and more! If it's related to moving disabled people into safe and accessible spaces, then we can help!
